Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
